Excel file tries to connect to internet links

    Hello everybody.

I'm modifying an older file, created by somebody else and when I open it I keep getting 3 errors telling me that the web links it tries to open are not available. The problem is I've tried everything I could think of to find where/how those links are defined, but with no result.
The file doesn't seem to have any web query active, no links can be found as part of cell formulas...

A printscreen is attached below. Is there anyway I can get rid of this type of messages when opening this file?

    Thanks!

Select Tools / All queries in the workbook / Remove.
    or try this code

Thanks for the replay martindwilson, but that didn't help...

I can't find "All queries in the workbook" in the Tools section of my Excel 2003, so I used the macro, but with no result.

The same 3 warning messages pop-up when I open the file.

Re: Excel file tries to connect to internet links

Well I did that and it didn't work either.

In fact, file A is linked to file B. I kept getting the errors while opening file A. If i break the links to file B, I don't recieve the errors anymore, BUT the strange thing is that the file B seems to be ok. When I open it I get nothing. It has no links, no formulas, just values and formatting.
Don't understand what's wrong. So file A gives me these errors. File A is linked to file B, if I break the links it's ok. If I go to file B (which I shouldn't rename/modify too much) I have no problem there either.

    Any ideas?

By the way I ran the delete web query macro on both of them with no positive result.

Unfortunately,I can't upload the file because it has some confidential data.Even the links in the error messages are confidential..

check range names, conditional formats, data validation. These can contain links to external references that you won't find at first glance in a cell. Also, check macros.

Re: Excel file tries to connect to internet links

I just looked at the named ranges and found about 100 of them! Most of them contained links, so I deleted all of them and it worked great!
It never crossed my mind to look at the ranges or the conditional formatting. Thanks a lot teylyn for the solution and also thanks mubashir aziz and martindwilson for your suggestions.
