How do i change the colour of a cell when text is entered

    Hello All,

How do i get a cell to change to a certain colour when i enter a letter.

e.g. when i enter the letter "Y" into a cell i want the cell fill colour to turn red.

Use conditional formatting (Format > Conditional Formatting)
    Cell Value Is
    equal to
    ="Y"

then pick your colour and click OK.

Exclamation Re: How do i change the colour of a cell when text is entered

In principle I would agree but I would choose between 'A and Z' as this wont confine me to just writing 'Y'. However if I wanted to add text to give the same effect then I would write for example " An unlucky number is 13" and not "13 is an unlucky number" as it would pick up the '13' first and so break the condition.
