Help on sports related spreadsheet

I need a little aid.

I'm developing a spreadsheet in excel to make a soccer match analysis. I need to score some soccer categories, like fouls, passing, long shots, of each athlete. For this, I would like to know if there is a way to type commands in just one cell in a way that would then give a +1 count in the determined category for that determined athlete.

For example, Typing "C7 A3" in a cell (where 'C7' would be the category, and 'A3' would be the player) would then register a correct pass by athlete 3. "C8 A5" would register a kick by athlete 5, and so on.
