    Question How to locate one number in a string of 17?

    Good morning all, I hope someone can help me. I am sure that there is a simple formula for this, but i'll be damned if I know it. I have an Excel Spreadsheet with Vehicle VIN #'s in the cells (EG. KGCMH64U90F905165 in cell A1) and I want to be able to have cell B2 pull only the 10th digit in that # (EG. B1=0) or the 5th digit in the # (EG. B1=H). Does anyone know how I can accomplish this?

    Check out the MID formula

    =MID(A1,5,1)

    =Mid(A1,10,1) will pull tenth... =Mid(A1,5,1) will pull 5th and so on...
