If cell has text show blank cell

I have a drop down list that has hours in thirty min intevals and then several text selections. I have a formula =0.3544+a3 to add 8.5 hours to the time entered. I need to have it return a blank cell if there is text in cell a3. How do I modify this to work for me. All help is greatly appreciated...thank you
