Re: Dropdown List, Dependent on Previous Column's Text

    nickls,
I have been trying to learn the same thing working throught the examples on the website also. http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal02.html
I was able to get the 2nd column as described in the 'produce' exercise (2 column exercise with the sencond column allowable selection to be dependant on the 1st columns' selection.
However I was unable to get the formula as shown in the 'countries' example. (3 column exercise with the sencond and third column allowable selection to be dependant on the 1st and ssecond columns' selection).
However, the formula given in the next excerise 'Using Two-Word Items' worked (using the columns you mentioned.
    =INDIRECT(A2) - Entered into your B2 cell.
    =INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE(B2," ","")) -Entered into your C2 cell.
I'm not sure if the formula as shown in the excercise should be working or if it is a typo (just since we're both having problems with it). Maybe someone can verify if the forula given in the countries example (on the link abve) to see if it works. It is shown in the excercise as =INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE(B2&C2," ",""))
Is there an advantage to referencing the 2 cells (if you can get it to work).
Thank you very much for the link Paul! While I'm sure to hit some hurdles it seems to have great information.
