    Missing Menu

    Hello,

I have got a major problem. The main menu in my Excel has gone missing I donot know how to restore it. It is the one where you have a list across the top with: File; Edit; View; Window; Data; Tools... That one is missing.

If anyone knows how to get it back please help. At the moment I cannot even get to the otpions.

    Thanks

    Thumbs up Re: Missing Menu

    Hi Ramzes,

You can type the key combination "ALT+T+C" from your keyboard which will open the toolbar customize window and then select the "Worksheet Menu Bar" from the list and the menu bar will be visible to you.

From the View menu have a look what is checked, something like Standard should be checked.

Also make sure that you are not in Full Screen View
    Hope that helps.

    Thanks nchavan,

However you activate this window from the combination of ALT+T+C doesn't work for me. But I can open customize window for toolbars.

The trick is: worksheet menu bar is not in it.

    Any more sugestions?

It is really awkward whot happened.

    Thanks

    Hi RoyUK,

That is what I am missing. That menu line where you choose from the list. I need this back. I don't know how to bring it back.

I wasn't in full screen for sure when it happened and also Standord is ticked.

    Thanks

    Re: Missing Menu

Best thing to do is probably search for Excel.xlb & delete it. That should cause Excel to re-set all standard Toolbars when it is re-opened

    Re: Missing Menu

    Hi RoyUK,

I cannot find that file. The only one I have found was .pip.

I have also found out that it is marked as a Menu Bar in the customize window in Word but in Excel this one is not on the list. At least mine as it is gone.

    I don't know if I won't have to re-install it.

    Thanks anyway for your effort.

    Re: Missing Menu

Which Windows version are you using?

As you make changes to your toolbars, Excel keeps track of the changes in a special file that has the extension .xlb. Depending on your version of Excel and the operating system you are using, the file could be called Excel.xlb, Excel10.xlb, Excel11.xlb, or even yourname.xlb (where yourname is your system login name).

    Search in hidden folders also

    C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel

What I would suggest is that way you are satisfied with menu layout go back to the xlb and make a copy
