I have got large files that needs to be exported from word to excel. Could you please help me out on how to do this. The file is in table format so would it be possible to have the same format when exported to excel?

How many files? The easiest way is to simply copy and paste. You should try that first because it's so easy.
This will cause strange results with complex tables, such as ones with merged or split cells, and cells with text having paragraph breaks. If you have those kinds of troubles then a VBA macro may be necessary.
Just one file with 17 pages. I did copy and paste and then merged the cells but unfortunately merging it will only keep the upper-left most data. How to do VBA macro?
I can't suggest a specific macro without seeing the Word file. Can you post it? If it has sensitive data, use a wildcard find&replace to change every letter to "x" or something.
