Lookup multiple partial match conditions and return values

    Hi everyone,

My apologies if this has been answered. I have searched and searched, but to no avail.
    This is my dilema:

    Example Table

    FILE NAME STATUS TAGS CODE
    xxxx A T-100 DB01
    xxxx A T-100 DG01, DM01
    xxxx A T-100, T-200 DC01
    xxxx B T-200 DB01
    xxxx B T-200 DG01, DM01
    xxxx B T-200 DC01
    xxxx A T-400 DB01
    xxxx A T-400 DG01, DM01
    xxxx C T-400 DC01
    xxxx C T-100, T-200, T-400 DE01, DF03

I want to search the table and return the status of "T-100" with code "DG01"
Or lets say "T-400" and code "DF03"
Since my lookup has to be a partial match *T-100* and *DG01* I am having a hard time using the wildcards doing it.

I have done it for only one search condition using wildcards, but when I try to use two it does not work.

Please let me know if anyone knows how to do this.
Also, it needs to be in Excel 2003

    Thanks!

FYI, If you have problem in excel & attaching a pdf doesn't help members to see your data layout. You are saying to members recreate it for you. Most of the members don't want to do it, you know members have their own things to do . So if you attach a excel file things makes easier
    Regards,

    Hi darklan, and welcome.

Haseeb's solution is elegant - I'll be using that one again in the future!

I notice that you have a duplicate in T-200/DC01, so I've also set it up to list duplicate entries (using helper columns, as I find it easier to see what's going on).

I echo Haseeb's request that you post .xls files in the future...
