date stamp and coloring

Is it possible to add a command say 'x' to a cell , then the cell has a static date stamp added to it and the previous cells in the row are all coloured .

for e;g , if i add x to cell H6 , i would like todays date added to H6 and cells A6 to H6 colored green .

Is this possible ?

if i add a static date stamp to a cell (ctrl colon) can this show the date in the cell and color the previous cells green ?
