After Updating Links the Edit Box Opens, but all links are "OK"???

After spending time cleaning up links and saving files, the test came when the files were next opened and "update links" was selected. Links were updated in the first few files without a hitch, but with the last two files after a few seconds, the "Edit Links" box opened but every link shown had an "OK" status.

Why would the "Edit Links" box open if the status of each link was "OK"?
