How to convert from date autoformat to hyphen format

    Hello,
I have a column of data that I entered in this format: 6-5. Excel automatically converted it to date format (6/5/2012). I would like to convert the entire column to the hyphen format, without the "2012" in there. Is there a way to do this? Thanks for any advice.
