What actually “Excel library engine” is?

Hi Excel Forum,

This looks like a SAS question but not.

I wanted to import the attached excel file’s 3 sheets as 3 separate SAS data sets using SAS.

SAS experts recommend me to use the "Excel library engine". They say Excel library engine treats Sheets in excel as datasets in SAS.
Below (blue) is the SAS code but error messages (red) pop up in SAS program when I have run this sas code.

libname exbk excel 'C:\excelfile.XLS' ver=2010;
ERROR: The EXCEL engine cannot be found.
