Combining Column Data When There are Duplicate Row Headers

    Hi,

I currently have a worksheet filled with data from other worksheets. I want to combine data from different columns when they share an identical row header and don't know how. For example:

    1b--
    1--c
    1-d-
    2-x-
    2y--
    2--z

    Would go to:

    1bdc
    2yxz

Another specific issue is that some row headers are bold and need to be considered a separate header from the non-bold alternative.

    Thanks!
    Josh

    Hi Josh,

This is not enough information, a sample workbook will make your problem easier to understand.

    Regards,

    David

Please remember, your request is clearer if you attach a sample workbook.
    - Click on Go Advanced and click on the Paper Clip.

Re: Combining Column Data When There are Duplicate Row Headers

    David,

Thanks for the tip. I've attached a file with workbooks showing a sample input and output. Code that maintains the order-of-first-appearance for each row header is a plus.

    Thanks,
    Josh

Re: Combining Column Data When There are Duplicate Row Headers

    Josh,

This wi8ll have to be macro!

If you had a second entry for Phil, would that be another row, or combined with the first (from row 9)?

    Regards,

    David

    David,

I assumed it would have to be a macro. Multiple instances of Phil would need to be combined in the same row.

    Thanks,
    Josh
