Macro unable to work due to trusted location issue.

    Hi,

    can anybody help me?

I have been trying many times but still unable to add filepath in the trusted location has caused my VBA script unable to open files. The filepath is stored in another desktop mapped to my network drive.

The error messages is as follows: "The Path you have entered cannot be used as a Trusted Location for security reasons"

The original desktop whereby the filepath stored has shared and allow full control & modify to my desktop.

I had also tick the the bottom check box Allow trusted location on my network (not recommended)

Really hope anyone can help me...

I have verified. there is nothing wrong with my VBA code.

    Good morning Faridwahidi

This question has set of alarm bells and I'm sure I've had this issue before.
Instead of using the mapped address, have you tried using the full UNC path? I know I've had issues before where VBA will quite happily open some mapped drives and then stop when trying to open others.

    Hi Dominicb,

I have the UNC path, still unable to add the path.

    \\server\share\file_path
    \\172.25.9.119\atm & sst\eSST Daily Uptime

In the meantime, I had found form microsoft web on how to disable trusted location using Group Policy Setting name: Disable all Trusted Locations

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc179039.aspx at the bottom line. but I am not sure how to do it, can please assist me.

    Regards,
    Farid

    Hi Faridwahidi

I assume that you have added these drives as Trusted Locations within Excel? It's not entirely clear from your post whether you have or not.

To do this go to the Office button > Excel Options > Trust Centre > Trust Centre Settings > Trusted Locations > Add New Location.

    Hi Faridwahidi

    OK. Clutching at straws now.

Think you need to experiment with other Trust Centre options - turning stuff off and see if it helps. It just seems very strange that Excel stops you adding certain locations.

The link you provided seems to be aimed at system-admins. It suggests that there is an "over-ride all" facility that is controlled at install and set-up, but that is to do with Excel 2013. I don't remember having to deal with any of this stuff when I installed my Excel. You might want to ask your IT people?

    Hi,

OK, will remove trusted location written by the OCT during installation. that is only the best way to resolve it.
