    can't find macro

I copied a worksheet from another workbook into a new workbook. The worksheet either has a macro in it or the workbook it came from contained a macro because when I try to save the new workbook I get an error message that the macro has an error but I cannot locate the macro.

    I am using Excel 2010.

I have checked the Macro list under the Developer tab and there is nothing listed. I do not have any other workbooks open that contain macros.

What can I do to correct this error so I can save the workbook?

(I have disabled macros for now so that I can save what I have, but I do not want to get the error again in the future.)

    Re: can't find macro

The macro could be a workbook or a worksheet event handler, in which case it would be in the relevant module "behind" the workbook or worksheet. Or, it could be a function. Or it could be a macro that takes parameters ... that is perhaps called from the a worksheet formula.

Lastly, even if a Module has no subroutines or functions present in it, if it exists, the workbook will be considered to be macro enabled.

If you still can't find it, perhaps you could upload a sample. It doesn't need to have any data so you could clear any sensitive information from any worksheets.

    Re: can't find macro

I am attaching the worksheet that appears to be causing the problem. Can you please take a look and see if you can determine where or what the macro is so I can delete it?

    Thank you so much!

    Re: can't find macro

Without looking at the workbook, it doesn't have any macros; xlsx files cannot have a VBA project.

    Re: can't find macro

The workbook has a .xlsx file extension, so it clearly is NOT a macro enabled workbook.

However, it does have a couple of buttons that have hyperlinks, Main Menu and Attend.

And the workbook is linked to another workbook: New Recruit - Ontario - Template 2014.xlsx in a location U:\MTL ....

Are you perhaps confusing Links with Macros? And should the links be internal to the workbook, rather than external?

Some cells in column E, for example, E3, have formulae that refer to another workbook:

    Formula: copy to clipboard

If there is another sheet that you have not included, that may be the reason.

I have added a sheet, Main Menu, and changed the source to point back at the original workbook ... the links are removed. See attached.
