number reverts to 1.11957E+13 from excel to .csv

    All

    Help.....

I have a file that is 'driving me crazy'

I receive data (.csv) from an external organisation that I need to format and add additional information to prior to on-forwarding it to another organisation in .csv

Issue is a member number that contains 15 digits...... I have a workaround for my part (formatting data as general) however when I output to file prior to sending the number reverts to 1.11957E+13 (as per original file....)

Any ideas on how to advance with this very much appreciated....

I realise I can reformat the data as number however would prefer if this was all possible in VBA

Instead of general, try formatting as text
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

OK then try numeric with no decimal places.

Where is the number coming from?

How are you testing the output? Are you opening the file up again in Excel? If so it's almost certainly converting the number at that point. Try opening it in a text editor to check it instead.

    FDibbins

.... we tried to upload the data that contained the 1.11957E+13 and go figure - it 'magically' knew that the number was 11195690000052 - must be pixies who fix these problems....

    thanks for your thoughts though
