Hello,
First time posting here and hoping that someone can figure out how to get a macro to do what I need. The amount of hours line by line parsing this massive document would be immense. Whoa! In advance I must say any and all help in getting this accomplished is hugely appreciated and thanks. The following is what I need to get accomplished and examples of the two (2) books I am attempting to compare and highlight names in.
I have two (2) workbooks (HR - Example and Reconciliation - Example) with a single sheet in each that I need to compare and identify last, first names that appear in both. The goal is to highlight the names in the Reconciliation - Example document that meet the following criteria.
- Identify Last, First names that appear in the Reconciliation document with names that duplicate in the HR document that are identified with the status shown Action column by Seperation.
- It is possible as shown in the example that a person could be listed as both Hire and Seperation under the action column. In this case I need the newest date identified in the "Action EFF Date" for all instances of this persons name. At that time if the newest date in that row is indicated as Seperation highlight the name accordingly in the Reconciliation document or if the row is indicated as Hire then do not highlight the name in the reconciliation document. The name Williams, Robin J in the example demonstrates what I am talking about. If this case does happen and I know it will is it possible to have that name in the reconciliation document highlight a diffrent color to indicate folllow up checks on that person.
I know this is a crap shoot and I hope it pays off. Either way for taking the time to read the post and think about it means alot. Thanks for your time and hopefully your massive assitance in making this happen.
