*Urgent * Work related * Generating an Auto-log from data entry on another sheet

    Good day,
I am trying to create an auto-generated log on a new sheet that is based off of data entered from a previous sheet. What I am wanting is when a single cell on the sheet 1 is modified (in this case a choice is made from a drop down list), a copy of certain cells in that row would be transferred to the new sheet. Now here's the kicker, I also want it to create a new entry every time that the cell is changed with the newest being at the top of the list. A chronological log of events if you will.

Column D contains the drop down list and auto-generates the time in Column F. What I want is when the location is changed in Column D I want it to copy all the required data from the row, but not the entire row, onto Sheet 2.

I have attached 2 copies of what I am working on. Copy 1 is what the page looks like before any movement has been done. Notice that there are 2 sheets. Sheet 1 is Titled (Accountability) and Sheet 2 is Titled (Auto-Log). Sheet 1 is for the manual data entry and Sheet 2 is what I want to be an auto generated chronological log. The Location (Column D) on Sheet 1 has a drop down menu that I want to trigger the data transfer. Copy 2 is what I want the pages to look like. I have already formatted the first sheet with conditional formatting to show color change and added formulas to make all the visible calculations and tallies on the page. What I want is when Column D is altered for an inmate, lets say he went to Medical, then I would like that record to reflect on the second sheet of the Workbook to include all the pertinent information it asks for. When the pages are locked, only the Name#, Name, and Location are able to be manipulated. All other cells on the first sheet are locked and all the cells are locked on the second sheet. Any advice would be greatly beneficial. Thank you.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish this? Please help.

Basically a person will enter the information on the Accountability sheet and then choose a location. You then want the sheet upon the choice of a location to then copy the data onto the Auto-Log sheet with the correct data. What determines the time in and what if someone changes the location on the Accountability sheet what do you want the spreadsheet to do?

That is another point that i am stumped with. I am not sure how to adapt the sheets to respond when the person comes back to transfer that data to the log. If you noticed when the location was deleted the time out went away and if you just changed it it updated the time. Another I am having is if someone relocated to another housing unit, how would that reflect on the auto-log sheet? It is a work in progress but I hope that my goals are obtainable.

Re: Generating an Auto-log from data entry on another sheet

If your okay with macros doing it all for you then, I can make the F formula a time stamp that's not an issue. But that formula only generates the time out not the time in. Where does the time in data come from?

I can make it do whatever you want it to do. If they relocate, do you want the new data to overwrite the existing data on the auto-log sheet or add a new line of data, if so do you want that new line on the top and push everything down a line or do you want the new line at the bottom?

What do you want the spreadsheet to do if they delete the location all together, if anything?

I figured that that changing the location or deleting it would trigger the time in for the auto- log. if the location was changed it would time in on the first entry and start a new one for the new location. But that rarely happens and usually happens that the inmate returns first and then goes somewhere else.

Well I am new at on event changes macros so someone else will have to help you on this one but that is what you need. On event if target is within the range then do this. I can't figure it out. I apologize.

Its a fairly simple process though. I just can't get the darn on event to work for me haha. Someone should get back with you shortly hopefully.
