Command Buttons have stopped working in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1

Came into work this morning all spreadsheets on multiple computers that have Windows 7 or windows 8.1 all have same issue.
This is not only on my network but on completly isolated networks as well.

Windows XP machines are working fine.

I am unable to select command buttons or push the button on any windows 7 or 8.1 machines.

If I try to insert an activeX button error message is "Cannot insert object"

Acvtivex settings are set to prompt before enabling. I have tried Enable all controls without restrictions and there is no difference.

I have run a repair on Office 2010 as well.

I have attached a sample file created on Windows XP. It has one button calling a macro.

    Any thoughts.

I am running Windows 7 at work and your button worked for me. Perhaps you need to contact your IT department.

Thanks for the reply. The IT department has not worked on the system since last weekend. All computers worked thru the weekend and yesterday. Will keep digging

Update 1: May have to do with windows update on activex last night.

Update 2: Check the above link which pinpoints the location of update problem

This solution seems to work. It is from microsoft's site.
Search for and delete all .exd files
