    Break Scheduling

    Hello all,

I am looking for a way to create a spreadsheet that will automatically schedule breaks and lunches for an employee base of about 60 people over a 7-day period. There are a mixture of part-time and full-time employees. We are a 24x7 shop and there are certain criteria that the spreadsheet would need to consider when running the macros:

    1. There must be a certain number of employees on during each hour interval
    2. Breaks & lunches have to be taken during a specific time in the employee's shift (ex.: lunch must be taken between the 3rd and 6th hour of the shift)

My question is two-fold: is this possible? And, I am very new to VBA and would like to learn how to write the macro, so can anyone point me in the direction of a book or other site that will teach me what I need to know? I would rather not have to take a class.

Unfortunately purchasing software for this function is out of the question at the moment, so I'm hopeful that Excel will give me what I need.

I have also posted this question here: http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-q...cheduling.html

    Thank you in advance.

Your post does not comply with Rule 8 of our Forum RULES. Do not crosspost your question on multiple forums without including links here to the other threads on other forums.

Cross-posting is when you post the same question in other forums on the web. The last thing you want to do is waste people's time working on an issue you have already resolved elsewhere. We prefer that you not cross-post at all, but if you do (and it's unlikely to go unnoticed), you MUST provide a link (copy the url from the address bar in your browser) to the cross-post.

Expect cross-posted questions without a link to be closed and a message will be posted by the moderator explaining why. We are here to help so help us to help you!

Read this to understand why we ask you to do this, and then please edit your first post to include links to any and all cross-posts in any other forums (not just this site).
