Predicting / repeating text along a row

Excel automatically inserts previously used words or phrases within a column provided there is no gaps in the column.
    Can one
    1. do the same thing along a row?
    2. get it to predict within the column even if there is a cell with no entry in that column?
    3. predict words or phrases anywhere on the sheet?

Just to clarify: this was originally posted in a different subforum:

    http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...ong-a-row.html

I suggested the OP might post the question in this forum also since there is clearly no in-built means to achieve this.

For Excel to predict entries along a row just as it does down a column would be really useful I'd use it all the time with my current work if it were available. Is there really no workround for this. Seems such an obvious omission by Microsoft.

Actually I would take it further to be a "turn on" facility to work anywhere on a sheet, not just the same row or column.

surely someone, somewhere has done this....???

Yebo! That's a seriously good idea. It must have been done by someone. All you Excel Wizz Kids out there, haven't you done this?
I'm sure it would take someone no time at all to do it.
    Come on Computer Guys!
