    Filename.csv <> Filename(1).csv

    Hi,

I'm running code on a new and old version of Windows/Excel and using my IE Browser to open a second workbook from the net.

On the newer version it shows the name of the file I opened as Filename.csv but on the older version it shows it as Filename(1).csv.

I assume this is an Option change in Excel. Does anyone know for sure what settings in Excel (or perhaps it because of an older version of IE or windows?) puts that "(1)" at the end of the filename?

I dont think that is an excel thing, but a you downloaded two of the same filename thing.

If you download two of the SAME file, it will throw (X) at the end so you can have both files instead of writing over the original.

    Hey Mike,

I agree after some work on this, it looks like an OS thing. I believe the browser didn't clean out the download buffer which is an options in IE. The same filename was already in the download folder so I agree a "(1)" was added to it. I'll mark this as solved and blame the browser or OS and not Excel for this problem.
