Converting text to a number

What is the best way to convert cells stored as text to just a general number format? I have a code that does this but given the length of my data it takes a while to loop through.

without seeing the data I'm just guessing here....but there is a VALUE() that converts text to values...you would have to create a help column, then use the VALUE() then copy and paste special to remove the formula....just a thought....HTH

I guess I'm assume you want to convert the actual data not just change the formatting....formatting doesn't change the data, only how it's presented....
