clear contents of cell based on column value/update continuously

Here is a description of what I am trying to do:

Column 6 contains the phrase 'closed' or 'active'. If if it says 'closed' in a particular row of this column (we'll say row x) , I want to clear or hide the contents of col 8, row x.

How should I do this? I also want it to update whenever a change is made. Does this require a for loop to check each row of column 6?
