flickering Screen

When running a macro to search and delete rows, the screen flickers during the search process. I remember seeing a post years ago about code to enter at the beginning of the VBA to turn of the flickering while the code is running. How can I stop the screen from flashing and perhaps show a amessage saying something like, "Please wait while the report is generating"
