Attempt to send e-mail via CDO from within spreadsheet macro

Have been trying to send e-mail via MS CDO server; but after reviewing many examples and correcting my code, I have only been able to attain the following response:
"The transport failed to connect to the server". Have tried port 25 and port 465 as well.
