Copy data and drop last 4 characters

    Hello,

I'm trying to create a workbook that will function as a check-in for an event I'm having. The initial worksheet will be the "check-in" page where they will have a unique ID that is entered, if they're already registered, that data will be pulled from another worksheet using formulas. They can also register on-site where I need a submit button+macro.

When the submit button is pressed, the new registers are supposed to be copied to another sheet in the book. I'm wondering how to incorporate something like Left(C17, Len(C17)-4) to drop the last 4 characters of the cell. Of the C17 cell, there is a drop-down menu using Data Validation with groups and their current attendance within that group (the idea is that we'll see groups with lower numbers and assign on-site registrations to that particular group), so those are the characters I want to drop from the cell

I'm also wondering if there's a way where all the data will enter on the same row in a different way.

    Thanks in advance!

What cell does the value appear in and where do you want to display it?

The value from the dropdown appears in Check-In (sht1 according to the macro) in C17, and I want it to copy over to Checked-In (sht2) in the E column.

At the same time, I want the last 4 characters of the sht1.C17 value to be dropped once it is copied over to sht2
