Protect/Hide worksheet tabs by password

Hi all,

I have a spreadsheet that holds information that is sensitive/cannot be shared with anyone outside of the originating department.

The sheet comprises of 5 tabs, each fed from the master data tab. One of the 5 tabs holds no sensitive data but needs to be shared with another department.

What I'm looking for is a way to be able to share the file, but without the risk of the sensitive data being compromised/viewed by those unauthorised to see it.

Currently getting around this by just extracting the tab from the file to a new file, and saving as values, but that has its own risks for the accuracy of the data being shared with the other dept.

Any help much appreciated.

put this in the workbook --> sheetactivate module.

Change "yourpassword" to a password of your choice and the the sheet name references.

Is this correct as I cannot seem to be able to make this operate?

I know that I need to change the name of the sheet I want to hide (entered as sheet 3 in here).

Using Excel 2010

Just be aware that Excel isn't secure and this security is trivial to remove. It's really just there to create an illusion of security rather than providing it - if you are happy that casual users cannot stumble onto the data then this is sufficient. If you are not, then you really need to use another application

Thanks for your input, we are aware of that, but the illusion in this case will be sufficient for the purpose required here.

Any ideas on the main issue presented here?
