Any shortcut to run VBA macro when macro file is close

Hi all,

I need your help.

I have created a macro file (xx.xlsm) to get some details in particular excel file(yyy.xls).

But I want to know, if it's possible to run Excel macro for that particular excel file when my macro file is not open.

Adding the macro button in Customize Quick access toolbar is also the way but I want to know if its possible to run that macro directly when that file (yyy.xls) is open to get the details.

Please help frdssss

Please note - the mentioned (yyy.xls) file is extracted from server so unable to put the code in that file.

Hi Kalpesh,

I always wonder how a program is supposed to run when it isn't in memory. In my mind a file that is "open" is in memory and if it "closed" is lives on a drive somewhere. I don't think there is a way to run a program that isn't in memory but I may be wrong. Let's see what the other guru's say about this problem.
