    Shared Workbooks with Macros

I have a shared workbook on a network and it contains macros. When I ran these macros before it was a shared workbook they ran smoothly. However, now that it's a shared workbook the workbook basically stalls and crashes whenever I attempt to run a macro. Why is this and is there any solution for it?

You need to make sure it is not opened else where on the network. Sharing a workbook with a macro just requires measures.

Thanks all. Would I be right in saying Access would be the best program to use for what I've described above then?

Perhaps the first line of the macro could be to remove all other users from the workbook when a macro is ran? If that's possible do you know the code for it?

Access would be a good way to go about it.

Have a look at the ways to use Access over a network

    Re: Shared Workbooks with Macros

Thanks again. What about my idea of a when the macro is triggered in a shared workbook it kicks everyone out of the workbook so it can run properly?

Do you think an user working on this shared workbook will be pleased to be kicked out ?!

Maybe you can think about a code in a non-shared workbook as written in the first link !

The users that will be working on it won't mind as this macro will only be ran twice a day.

Is what I suggested above possible with the code?
