Macro embed photo based on cell contents

I have seen a few examples online, but have not seen an example that works for me.

I have photos in my desktop folder.

I name photos based on the employee's ID number. So 123 would be 123.jpg

I want to type in ID number in Column B and have the photo appear in Column A.

I enclosed an example. Thanks for the help. Any macro or function that may work.

Many of the techniques involve preloading all of the images into your excel spreadsheet. I assume that is what you are trying to avoid and instead want it to pull the image from the directory that has the pictures in it. For that you need macros and I think this tutorial will walk you through a solution:
