    VBA module - gone

Ok, from what I understand, modules aren't tied to any specific sheet or workbook? It seems I'm missing a pretty big piece of information about these that is probably obvious enough to be taken for granted, but...

I have a workbook with some code in a module. I saved the workbook, and in the VBA window, and now the code in the module is gone. Is it gone? Or is it just saved somewhere else? How do I use modules if the code gets removed (or placed somewhere else?) every so often?

    Someone please explain.

They're tied to a workbook, but if you've saved it as xlsx then it will have been stripped out as they don't support macros, you need to save it as xlsb, xlsm or xls

Ah, ok it looks like I did save it as an xlsx.

Thank you very much. I didn't lose too much, it could have been much worse.

Actually - I just checked and it is saved as an .xlsb...

It also says 'recovered' in the bottom corner. I'm thinking I saved the file, left my computer over night, and it crashed? Not sure.
