Smile Archive database that is linked to an excel table.

    Hello everyone.

It has been a long while since I have been here so, it is great to be back.

Anyway, I have a little problem that I need to solve, not right away, but it would help the company that I am working for. Here is the exact image of what I am working on:

I hope the image is good.

Anyway, if not, I have added 7 text fields and 7 labels, with 2 command buttons at the bottom and I have tried to create some vba text that will enable the user to either add new data to the existing table, or even do a search which will bring up the records. I am at a loss at the moment, and with your help, I hope I can create this database and make it user friendly. This userform will be linked to an excel spreadsheet with some 15,000 records. It would be great to actually show the historical events of a particular archive too.

    Many thanks in advance.

Need more information to make this happen. If you are adding data, then which button will do this? For each of the fields in your form, where will the data go?

For the search button, which columns will each of the fields look in to find the result. Which field will you be using to search?

A sample workbook to go with this form would be really helpful. Can you attach a sample workbook. It only needs to have a representative number of entries and not your full workbook.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

    Hello Alan.

Many thanks for your message. I do apologise for not replying sooner, since not only am I working on this database, I am working on another which is super complicated but it involves svgs etc. Anyway, I will upload a png if that is ok and spoiler it.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Pictures are of little value. Honestly, no one wants to re-type your data to try and solve your issue. Additionally, we would only be guessing at how your data was structured, ie. formulas, formatting, etc.

Please attach a sample file that represents what you have. The structure of your attachment should be the same structure as your actual data. Any proprietary information should be changed.

Include in the attachment any code you're currently using (whether it works or not) and an "After" of what you wish the output to be.

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

Hopefully the file is there. To be honest, there is no code at the moment.

There is no user form contained in this file for me to work on. To be honest, I really don't want to recreate a user form for you when you have already shown one that has been created in the first post. Once this is attached to the file, I will help you by writing code to solve your issue. You will need to name your command buttons and the text boxes when you attach the form. This forum is here to help you with issues, not to do your work for you. Help us to help you by giving us a complete package to assess and work with.
