Consolidate DBF files from Windows Outlook 2013 e-mail letters to one DBF file

    Hi!

    Situation:

E-mail letters (from outlook 2013) coppied to specific folder on the hard drive.

Each letter contains one DBF file.

The DBF file contains 24 columns. Column names are the same in all files. The content of columns differs.

    The aim:

To consolidate all the DBF files from Outlook letters (copied on the hard drive), in one DBF or XLS file.

Due to technical issues I cannot add any attachements at the moment. Hope it's enough with description above.

    Thanks in advance!
    Regards

    Arty

I'm looking at it from a different angle....what about creating a repository of ALL info and have a field to for Email or Name to sort on and use this repository to send out the dbf's from? Or Copy & Paste into Excel? (once in Excel it may be easier if the files have named ranges to CONSOLIDATE into one MASTER spread sheet? A macro may even then be constructed to Consolidate

Hi! I really did not get your point: "about creating a repository of ALL info and have a field to for Email or Name to sort on and use this repository to send out the dbf's from?"

The starting point is the folder where all the letters are pasted manually. Then the Macros consolidates all the files from letters into one. It could be a XLS file which will be used

    for filtering, analysing etc.

Not sure what dbf you are using. But if you can't you create a query from it? A separate repository whether you create via consolidation etc (You have your original 23 columns. Add additional column for Email (so you can see what went to who. OR
once in excel you can write macro that takes current region of all the individual files/letter and consolidate them in one excel file.

Seems that the macro which takes current region of all the individual files/letters and consolidates them in one excel file is the best way.

Unfortunately it's not possible to upload the e-mail letters here to have an example.

I could send them to your e-mail but don't have the address...

I've got a code that consolidates all the files into one (files from one particular folder).

Maybe it helps you to write a macro that consolidates dbf files (into one XLS file) from e-mail messages which are pasted in one particular folder on the hard drive.

Re: Consolidate DBF files from Windows Outlook 2013 e-mail letters to one DBF file

It is unclear to me as to what you want and what you have done. I would assume that you need 2 things:
    1. Export attachments. This is more of an Outlook forum question than Excel.
    2. Merge dbf files:
    a. Into one an Access forum question.
    b. Merging dbf files into an Excel file is an Excel forum question.

All of these have solutions out there already. For (1), you can do something like: http://thetechieguy.com/extracting-a...ot-one-by-one/

If you have (1) done, we can work on (2b). If you are ready for that, I can show you how to do that with ADO or other ways. The connection string is usually the bigger issue for ADO solutions.

Obviously, it is more helpful to work on example files. If it is a problem attaching in this forum, it is usually more reliable to click the Go Advanced button in lower right of a reply and scroll past the reply block and click the Manage Attachments hyperlink rather than clicking the paperclip icon on the toolbar.
