Vba dictate what goes into a cell

    Hi All
Sorry just joined the group if posting in wrong area.

I need a bit of help, I have an excel sheet with certain information I want people to fill out.
Once the sheet is completed they click an update box and the info is put on another sheet.

Problem I am having is people are not filing it in right. If they leave the Box blank I have error msg coming up.

That all works grand, issue is what can I add so that if Paul Smith is not entered a error message will appear when they hit the update(Submit) box.

    Sorry about long post.

    Cheers

    Ray

Re: New to VBA, need a little help

    Hi and welcome!
There might be some code under "update box". When user click on this box - info should be copied, right?
Insert your test for empty cell at the beginning of "update box" code, like this

    Hi Kasan

Sorry a bit lost, I tried

Yes when the person clicks on the update box the data is copied to a database.
All that it should be is people enter the name where it states enter name but they enter supplier name and anything else.
I suppose I am trying to dictate that they have to enter there name.

    Thanks

Hello Ray and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum
RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

In addition you're also breaching the rules by not wrapping code in code tags. See kasan's example in #2

(This thread should receive no further responses until this moderation request is fulfilled, as per Forum Rule 7)
