Syntax error with simple MS Query

Good afternoon all. I am making a simple query in MS Query where I select a check field and vendor field. When I drag the vendor field or any other field for that matter into the grid it works fine, but when I drag the check field into the grid I get this error message below. It's the <<???>> and the last line of the error window says Syntax Error. Also, I am not typing the SQL statements in directly, MS Query is generating them. I'm thinking maybe somehow a check# entered into the check field got corrupt and it's blowing up? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks.
