Question Finding Matches in an Excel DATABASE

    Greetings everyone!

I have a homeric doubt, for some time now I have tried to develop a code that makes the following commands:

    1. Search within a column for all the cells that contain the word I search for. For example:

I look for "Matrix" in a range of cells, the macro can return me in a drop down list: "Enterprise Matrix Energetica"; "Matrix Collections"; "Parent Power Matrix" and any other cell that has "Matrix" in it.

    2. After finding the possible results, return the values in a dropdown list, messagebox or something like that.

    3. After I choose the name I want from the base, pull the respective data of that company in the columns. (This part is easy, I dont really need help on it. I'm having trouble most on part 1).

I tried via VLOOKUP, but the command does not return incomplete and / or approximate values. For example: If I search via "Matrix" the VLOOKUP will not return "Energetic Matrix Enterprise".

Does anyone have a tip here?

    Have a good week!

Oeldere means wild card characters, like * - *matrix*.

Re: Finding Matches in an Excel DATABASE

With the F1 in excel I find this (translated text)

    English

"You can use the wildcard question mark (?) And asterisk (*) in criteria. A question mark replaces any character and an asterisk replaces any string. If you really want to search a question mark or an asterisk, you must type a tilde (~) for that character."

Re: Finding Matches in an Excel DATABASE

    Hello guys,

I tried taking some screenshots to explain my doubt:

    1. Theres a place where i'll type the world i want to look for:
    ex1.PNG

    2. I'll type the world "Matrix", for example.
    ex2.PNG

3.Somehow all the possible matches for "Matrix" will appear in a dropdown list or something else.
    ex3.PNG

    4. The 2 results for the name I chose will appear.
    ex4.PNG

Someone has any idea how can I do something like that?
