problems with dsofile.dll

I'm using dsofile.dll (2.1.2841.0) to read meta information from a closed Excel workbook. It has to be done without opening the file.
It worked fine for a long time, even with Windows 10 and Excel 2016.

From one day to the next it stopped working with error message:
-2147217148 - The document is not an OLE file, and does not support extended document properties.

Maybe it has to do with file*msoshext.dll (http://joymonscode.blogspot.de/2013/...th-office.html) which has been updated from Microsoft on July 14th 2017.

Did someone make the same experience and knows the solution?

Hi reinht,

Have you tried using your 2016 Excel "Get & Transform" tool to get your data. Is it an OLEDB type file? Using this you can get data from a closed file using "Connection Only".

thank you for your answer. The solution has to work from Office 2010 to Office 2016. Is it available in Office 2010 as well?
