Convert time to custom format without changing numbers

Hi All,
I have what I hope is a simple question, we just got a new system at work that allows exports in excel however the format needs to be changed when I format the cell to text or something else it changes the original numbers. So here's what I got the cell looks like this

56:30 and I need it to look like this 56.30

Any ideas???

If you trying to change the way it looks to 56.30 simply format cell as Custom, [h].mm
