DataBase AutoNumber Return

I found some code on the internet for getting the autonumber (keyed in the below code) of the last record added to a table, see "Method from Internet" in below code. I then tried something simpler, see "My Method" in the below code. Both seem to work and give the same result. Is there something wrong with my simple method, "My Method"?

Doesn't anyone know the answer as to which is the best way to get the value of the AutoNumber field in an access database after a record has been added?
