Forgive the naive question, but why do you need Excel for this? Would it not be simpler to use an FTP client such as FileZilla?

Also is the txt file something that is created/saved from Excel (the file in which you have the macro) or is this a file external to Excel? If its external to Excel, why are we using Excel to move the file? How is the txt file related to Excel? Can you manually upload to the FTP site? Does the FTP site support sftp? What port are you using for FTP? Does uploading to ftp require credentials? Is the ftp always available or do you need to test for it before attempting to upload? We really need more information to go on.
