Conditional formatting: highlight sets of cells depending on content

    Hi all,

New user here. I've been finding a way of using conditional formatting so here's what I need:

    Column A,B,C,D,E,F

Instruction: current row would be highlighted if all cells from that row is blank. else, no action.

    Outcome:
    Cols_: A B C D E F
    Row 1 X _ _ _ _ _ - no highlight
    Row 2 X X X X X X - no highlight
    Row 3 _ _ _ _ _ _ - all cells in row are highlighted since they're all blank

A conditional formula like this should do the trick. Just Change the F to the extent of your columns

is there a way so I don't have to format each row one by one?

Yes. Use this formula in the Conditional Format equation and select the range A1 to F100 for the 'Applies to'

makes it check only the first row (A1 to F1)

Hello Neuroredvio and Welcome to Excel Forum.
Attached is an example of how Crooza's formula is applied to multiple rows.
If the rule isn't doing what you want, please upload a sample spreadsheet with your formatting manually applied, so that we may attempt to write a conditional formatting rule or code that does.

    Thanks JeteMc

Also just realized that there may be a row with just a number (and no text) so should use this formula instead to capture this occurrence
