    VLOOKUP help

    Hello all!

I recently posted a thread asking for help on an ambulance schedule I was working on and the reply I obtained worked great until admin requested a change.
    this is the original post:

    Hello all!

I'm working on an excel sheet to be used by an ambulance agency as their daily schedule. Each crew member is put in a named range and will be selected by drop downs. There are 2 types of crew certifications that we need to know: ALS or BLS. The crew members cert is listed beside the crew members to make a table.

Currently, I have a cell for Shift, Crew member 1 crew member 2, ALS or BLS, Unit number.
Crew member 1 is in F9, Crew 2 is G9, ALS or BLS is H9, And the unit number is I9.
What I need to happen is when I select a name from the drop-down list, in both crew 1 and 2 I need to look up to check both names and determine if they either of them are ALS. If one, or both of the crew members is ALS then H9 should state "ALS". If neither of the crew members are ALS, H9 should state "BLS"

I have an example of the sheet attached.
I'm assuming VLOOKUP is going to be the way to go, I'm just not sure how to have it check both crew members and cross-check it against the crew table.

They now want to add a third option. Instead of just ALS or BLS, they want ALS, BLS, or Vent.

I've attached the excel file with comment boxes explaining what I'm looking for. I'm not too sure if VLOOKUP will work here or not.
    All help appreciated!

Although I seem to recall someone provided a SUMPRODUCT solution when you originally posted this. Adapting that slightly may give you a shorter formula.
