    Compare Tables

    Good Morning Forum,

I have two tables that i would like to arrange and compare, I've tried using formulas with helper columns and have not been successful. The two tables attached to this file are randomly generated names and ID's. What i would like to accomplish is have the original tables on one sheet and somehow get the matched and arranged tables on sheet 2, would like to match the tables by their "ID" where if the ID number matches on both tables, they would sit side by side, if the ID number is repeated on either table the opposite table would automatically insert a row to continue matching the consecutive ID's leaving the on both tables in numerical order from smallest to largest (the other way around would work as well, largest to smallest, not really an issue as long as they both match) and if there is no match for one of the ID's it would continue to be in numerical order and highlight that row in any color and creating a blank row on the opposite table to continue with the numerical order. I've tried this countless times and have not been successful. this is a depiction of the actual tables as the actual data is 100's of rows that have to be manually matched, this takes days. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You all in Advance.

    Re: Compare Tables

I am not sure that this is what you want. You did not specify what to do when there are duplicate values in Table2. This spreadsheet uses the first row found. In particular, explain what you want to happen with Stephenie*Stolp.

In the meantime this gets you part of the way there. Only one name duplicated in table1 was also found in table2. This spreadsheet uses a helper column in Column H to determine if a person in Table1 is also in Table2.

    The macro name is CopyTables.

One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
