    sequence recognizing

    the problem:
    A:1 4,2746 A:2 7,37346525 A:3 2,3276456 A:4 8,73645 A:5 9,63735 A:6 10,73625

    IS IT ANY POSSIBILITY TO FIND (BETWEEN A:1 - A:6) PREVIOUSLY DESCRIBED SEQUENCE OF NATURAL NUMBERS (3, 6, 9, 12 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 - NATURAL NUMBERS) WHEN SIGNAL (SIGNALLING WHEN 2 - 2,3276456 4 - 4,2746 ETC) APPEARS WHEN AT LEAST 3 OF THESE NUMBERS (3, 6, 12 OR 2, 6, 8 APPEARING IN OCCASIONAL ORDER - 6, 12, 3 OR 6, 8, 2) APPEAR IN A ROW.

    Will you please attach a SMALL sample Excel workbook(s) (10-20 rows of data is usually enough)? Please don't attach a picture of one (no-one will want to re-type all your stuff before starting).

    1. Make sure that your sample data are truly REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. (If trere are typical cases like: all unique values/duplicates could occur, day/night, nobody present/several persons at once, before/on/past due, etc. - please show them all or at least indicate in text) The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution(s) is/are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential/restricted information (either personal or business) like real e-mails, social security numbers, bank accounts, etc. is removed first!!

    To attach an Excel file you have to do the following: Just before posting, scroll down and press Go Advanced button and then scroll down and press Manage Attachments link. Now follow the instructions at the top of that pop-up screen.

    First rows/vs columns
    rows - horizontal
    columns - vertical

    Second - previously you wrote about sequence(s) 3, 6, 9, 12 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
    in the file there is 30 60 90 120 150 180 210 240 270 300 330 360

    Will it be always the same sequence or it can be changed (how/where is stored).

    You said about 3 numbers, while in column B appear only 2 numbers 90 (twice) and 120 (once).

    Final comment - you are truncating numbers by just dropping off decimal part. Is it OK? because for instance 90.5679 recognized in column B (breen) is closer to 91 than 90.

    very good remark - these numbers (marked with colour) appear in column
    about sequence - I mean sequence of natural numbers (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 30, 60, 90, 120, 150) previously described
    in my perception 90 90 120 are 3 numbers
    exactly these are not rounded numbers

    if you know what does mean word "sequence" you probably know that sequence is 3, 6, 9, 12 or 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 30 60 90 120 150 180 210 240 270 300 330 360 or 30, 60, 90, 120, 150
    to make it clear; for example Fibonacci sequence: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34 sequence of squared numbers 1 4 9 16 25 36
    in that particular case it concerned recognition of few such, previously described, sequences
    refering to excelforum.pl there were similar problems with understanding word "sequence" - strange thing posts also from Poland, the others did not find it as a problem

    The OEIS lists over 300,000 integer sequences. You want to identify all of those?

    Let's say your sequence is in first row starting from column M

    Try conditional formatting with a rule based on a formula:

    In PL version of excel it will be:

    See attachment

    But if you want to use this formula in a worksheet (not in conditional formatting), you have to commit it as an array formula - by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER. You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula. If you do not CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer.

    You mean arithmetic sequences?

    That's what I was thinking until you posted the Fibonacci sequence.
