Change the layout of a pdf file with the 9 in 1 setting.

    Good evening.

Could you help me simplify manual procedures?
I have a pdf file (book) from which I would like to create a pdf with a different layout from the original one (1 of 1). The new layout of the pages must take place in the order indicated in the excel sheet (9 pages out of 1 "each sheet ends at the red writing).
If you see the excel sheet in the "d" column the pages are grouped by the front (odd pages of the file to be created), while the column "is" the back (even pages of the file that will be created).

Currently, to create the file I first have to place the numbering indicated on the excel file in a word file and then copy and paste the number of pages in the printer menu (with a 9 in 1 setting, vertically). Then number the pages created with pdf creator (1,2,3, etc.) and finally I have to merge all the pages created to get a single file.

Most likely with a macro it will be much simpler.

Thank you for anyone who wants to intervene.

Re: Change the layout of a pdf file with the 9 in 1 setting.

    Good morning.

I managed to arrange the numbering of the pages in the excel file by arranging the new numbering of the pdf file in the 9 out of 1 format.

Could you create a single pdf that consists of the new formatting (num pages in column a) where each page of the column in turn includes the pages of column b of the original pdf file?

    Perhaps this is clearer now.

    ps:
I proceeded to publish the same post in the chandoo forum.

Re: Change the layout of a pdf file with the 9 in 1 setting.

page 1 includes the pages written in cell b2 of the excel file and page 2 those of cell b3. these files are formed from the original file in the 1 to 1 format and are transformed into the 9-in-1 arrangement and then merged into a single file: pag 1 + pag 2

the file I enclose here and the one in the 1 in 1 version that will be transformed into the 9 in 1 version (obviously some pages are for example "the book is at least 900 pages")

    .
I'm not certain how one would code a macro to accomplish your goal.

WORD, just like EXCEL, on the DEVELOPER tab has a menu selection RECORD MACRO. I recommend you
initiate 'recording a macro', follow your steps established to process the PDF in WORD. Then review the macro
    code after completing the task.

The MACRO RECORDER in WORD and EXCEL has a tendency to include additional lines of code that are not really
required for the macro to run successfully. But at least you will have a macro to functions from which you can
edit and make it more compact.

Posting the recorded macro here and seeking assistance in editing the code so it is more compact could be done
after you have the macro code.

    Does this help ?
