Separating the month from date

Please can you help me to find a formula to separate the month from the date

Your dates are text values that just look like a date. You can change them all in one operation - select all the "dates" in column A, then click on the Data tab and Text-to-columns. A dialogue box will pop up, and you can click Next on the first two panels. On the third panel click against Date and then choose MDY, and then Finish. Your formula in B2 will now show the correct month.
