Searchign upwards and adding the name to every row

    Hi,

I have an output file from a clocking system at work.
The file outputs the data of all the clockings into a spreadsheet, however it doesn't put the name next to each entry.
It puts it at the top of a section

    For example

    Talbot, Alan 01212
Date Planned Shift Rostered Shift Clockings Planned Target Hrs Actual Target Hrs 01 BASIC
    26/05/2019 SUNDAY SUNDAY
    27/05/2019 1348-2200 1348-2200 08:12 08:12
    28/05/2019 1348-2200 1348-2200 08:12 08:12
    29/05/2019 1348-2200 1348-2200 08:12 08:12
    30/05/2019 1348-2200 1348-2200 08:12 08:12
    31/05/2019 REST DAY REST DAY
    01/06/2019 SATURDAY SATURDAY #VALUE! -15:32
    02/06/2019 SUNDAY SUNDAY

So I tried to just paste a column of formulas in but sometimes someone may not have clocked in on a sunday so the row doesn't appear. so it is quite dynamic in how it appears.

So my next plan was to write a macro that will calculate the number of rows in column A. then starting from the last row search upwards until it finds a cell that contains a comma. then copy this cell and paste it into column G.

Has anyone done anything like this before?

I kind of started but it just became a mess.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Regards,

    Alan

    Hi !

If the data are already within an Excel worksheet so just use the Range.Find method, to see in VBA inner help …
