Selecting Date mm.dd.yyyy in Column A for new file name mm.dd

Can someone tell me how to extract a date in column A (multiple rows but same date) and use this date for a new file name that is appended with mm.dd?

For example, file is titled FILE and new name would be FILE mm.dd.
